Creation Day 6: Animals & Humans Enrichment

We decided to learn about the days of creation this summer with fun cooking, arts, and field trips. Today we learned day 6 of creation when God created the creatures on the land and man in Genesis 1:24-31.

Genesis 1:24-31

Then God said, “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind- livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.” And that is what happened. God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.

Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” Then God said, “Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for you food. And I have given every green plant as food for wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground- everything that has life.” And that is what happened. Then God looked over all He had made, and he saw that it was very good. And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.

Days of Creation Coloring Book

I printed out the Days of Creation Coloring Book and stapled it together for the kids. Today we colored the Day 6: Animals & Humans page in the book.

Fruit Animals

Give the child fruit and help him cut it into shapes to form animals. We used grapes, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, raisins, and pretzel sticks.

Hedgehog Rolls

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups Flour
1 tsp Quick Yeast
1 tsp Sugar
Salt pinch of
1 Tablespoon vegetable oil
1 Cup hand hot water
raisins for decorating the hedgehog face

Directions:

Put the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix to combine.
Add in the table spoon of vegetable oil and then the water.
Start to mix together, as it becomes sticky get your hands in the bowl and start to knead the dough.
If the mixture is a little sticky add some more strong white bread flour and if it’s a little dry sprinkle on some water.
Once the dough is combined turn out onto a lightly dusted surface and knead the dough – it needs around 5 minutes of kneading
Once the dough is kneaded divide into 4 or 5 small rolls and shape into mini hedgehogs.
Take some scissors and cut spikes into the dough, place on the baking sheet.
Add a face to the hedgehog rolls .
Leave to rise for around about an hour.
In to the oven for about 15 minutes at 375 degrees Ferenheit, look at the bottom to see if they are light brown and done.

Multimedia Lion Art

Supplies:

Paper Plate
Large paint brushes
Yellow and Orange Paint
Scissors
Glue
Orange, Red, Yellow, and Brown construction paper
Large Goggly Eyes

Directions:

Paint the paper plate with orange and yellow. Let it dry.
Cut out strips of construction paper for the lion’s mane. Curl them with the tip of the scissors.
Cut out a triangle nose.
Glue the nose and 2 eyes on the middle of the paper plate.
Cut strips along the outside of the paper plate for the lion’s mane.
Glue on your curled strips to the outer part of the paper plate.
