Creation Day 3: Land & Plants Enrichment

We decided to learn about the days of creation this summer with fun cooking, arts, and field trips. Today we learned day 3 of creation when God brings dry land out of the waters and then creates all plants and vegetation in Genesis 1:9-13.

Genesis 1:9-13

Then God said, “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” And that is what happened. God called the dry ground “land” and the waters “seas. and God saw that it was good. Then God said, “let the land sprout with vegetation– every sort of see-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened. The land produced vegetation– all sorts of see-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. Their seeds produced plants and trees of the same kind. And God saw that it was good. And evening passed and morning came, marking the third day.

Days of Creation Coloring Book

I printed out the Days of Creation Coloring Book and stapled it together for the kids. Today we colored the Day 3: Land & Plants page in the book.

Fruit Pizza

Ingredients:

• Crescent Roll Dough
• 1 Marshmallow Cream
• 1 Cream Cheese
• Fruit(strawberries, Blueberries, Grapes)

Directions:

1. Unroll the dough and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
2. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
3. Let it completely cool.
4. Mix together the marshmallow cream and the cream cheese and cover the cookies.
5. Cut up the fruit and add it to your pizza.

Seasons Tree Multimedia Art

Supplies:

• White Paper
• Watercolors
• Large paint brushes
• Brown & Green Paint
• Glue
• Scissors
• Red, Orange, Yellow construction paper
• Small White Pom-poms
• Pink Tissue Paper
• Cotton Swabs
• Small Rubber Bands

Directions:

1. Fold the paper in half and then in half again, so that you have 4 equal strips.
2. Watercolor each strip a different color of the seasons: example Spring-green, Summer- yellow, Autumn- orange, Winter-blue).
3. Use the brown paint to paint a tree trunk that covers part of the middle 2 strips. Then paint the tree branches going out from the trunk to cover part of all the strips.
4. Cut small strips of red, orange, and yellow construction paper and curl them with the scissors, then glue them onto the Fall section of the tree branches.
5. Cut 1 inch pieces of pink tissue paper and crumple them up and glue them to the Spring section of the tree branches.
6. Glue on small white pom-poms to the Winter section of the branches.
7. Gather 5 or 6 cotton swabs and hold them together with the rubber bands. Dip them in green paint and dab them on the Summer branches for leaves.

Botanical Gardens Field Trip

We visited the St. Louis Botanical Gardens today.
