Creation Day 2: Sky & Sea Enrichment

We decided to learn about the days of creation this summer with fun cooking, arts, and field trips. Today we learned day 2 of creation when God separated the sky from the waters in Genesis 1:6-8.

Genesis 1:6-8

Then God said, “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens of the waters of the earth.” And that is what happened. God made this space to separate the waters of the earth from the waters of the heavens. God called the space “sky”. And evening passed and morning came, marking the second day.

Days of Creation Coloring Book

I printed out the Days of Creation Coloring Book and stapled it together for the kids. Today we colored the Day 2: Sky & Sea page in the book.

Cloudy Jello

Ingredients:

• 6 oz Instant Blue Jello
• 3 cups boiling water
• 3 cups cold water
• 8 zo Cool Whip

Instructions:

1. Mix the Jell-O mix with boiling water and whisk for 2 minutes.
2. Add the cold water and mix for 2 more minutes.
3. Gently cold in the Cool Whip until it forms a marble look.
4. Pour into a lightly greased 8×8 baking dish and refrigerate for several hours.

Sky & Sea Painting

Supplies:

• White Paper
• Blues and greens paint
• Large paint brushes
• White Paint
• Bubble Wrap
• Cotton Swabs
• Small Rubber Bands

Directions:

1. Paint the top part of the paper with blues for the “sky” and the bottom part of the paper with greens and blues for the “sea”.
2. Use a rubber band to keep 5 or 6 cotton swabs together.
3. Dip the cotton swabs in white paint and dab it onto areas of the “sky” for clouds.
4. Paint a small piece of the bubble side of bubble wrap, then press the paint onto the “sea” for bubbles and waves.

Beach Field Trip

We visited the local beach with our co-op friends for Sky & Sea day.
