The girls had fun learning about yarn today. They enjoyed all of the yarn crafts that we did. We got our recourses for today from the Y is for Yak, Yarn, & Yogurt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Yarn Science
- We read from the Abeka Preschool Language Development Cards to learn more yarn.
- We learned more about yarn and wool by watching this How Wool Become Clothes video.
- She counted 15 balls of yarn with her Abeka Numbers and Skills with Button Bear book.
- We reviewed all of the sounds we have learned so far with the Abeka Alphabet Flashcards.
- Then I printed out the How Yarn is Made poster for the girls to study
- We also went to the store to choose some of their favorite colors of yarn.

Yarn Writing
- The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter Y. My 3 year old had a capital Y and lowercase y with tracing arrows, along with yarn to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing Y’s and y’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Y is for Yak, Yarn, & Yogurt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

y is for yarn
- I printed this Y is for Yarn Craft onto cardstock for the girls to paint. I cut out the capital “Y” for them to paint. After that dried they glued it to a piece of construction paper. Then they cut small pieces of yarn and glued them on.

Yarn Color Matching
- I printed out the Yarn Color Matching game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. She reviewed each color as she matched up the colored sweater with the matching colored yarn.

Yarn Worksheets
- Then they did the Trace and Match the yarn colors page. We reviewed each color and how to spell them before they traced the letters and matched them to the yarn.
- She also practiced tracing her numbers with the Yarn Number Trace sheet.

Yarn Shape
- I printed out the Yarn Shape pages and cut some yarn for the girls to glue onto the shapes.

Yarn Books
- Charlie Needs a Cloak by Tomie dePaola
- A Friendship Yarn by Lisa Moser
- Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett
My “x,y,z” Book
- I read the My “x,y,z” Book by Jane Belk Moncure to the girls too.
