Y is for Yak (preschool)

The girls had fun learning about yaks today. They had fun with painting and games. We got our recourses for today from the Y is for Yak, Yarn, & Yogurt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Yak Science

Yak Writing

  • The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter Y. My 3 year old had a capital Y and lowercase y with tracing arrows, along with a yak to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing Y’s and y’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Y is for Yak, Yarn, & Yogurt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Y is for Yak

  • I printed this y is for Yak Craft onto cardstock for the girls to paint. I cut out the lower case “y” for them to paint brown. After that dried they glued it to a piece of yellow construction paper. Then I cut out the face and horns for them to glue on.

Ten Yaks

  • The girls each had a similar number 10 paper for counting yaks. My 3 year old had the number 10 with tracing arrows, along with a helpful poem, and 10 yaks to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added more tracing 10’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Y is for Yak, Yarn, & Yogurt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Yak Worksheets

  • Then she practiced her cutting with her Order Yaks by Size paper. She glued them on in the order by their size.
  • I printed out the Yak Shape Puzzle and then cut the pieces for her. Then she reviewed her shapes as she matched them up to the yak and glued them in place.

Yak Ten Frame

  • I printed out the Yak Ten Frame game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. Then she would tell me what the number is on the Daddy yak’s sign. Then she counted out the correct number of babies to add to the ten frame.

Yak Puzzle

  • I printed out the Yak Puzzle on cardstock and then laminated it so that we can use it over and over again. Then she got to put together the yak.
