W is for Woodpecker (preschool)

The girls enjoyed learning about woodpeckers today. They liked the games and toy that we made. We got our recourses for today from the W is for Walrus, Woodpecker & Weather Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Woodpecker Science

Woodpecker Writing

  • The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter W. My 3 year old had a capital W and lowercase w with tracing arrows, along with a woodpecker to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing W’s and w’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the W is for Walrus, Woodpecker & Weather Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Woodpecker Toy

  • I printed out the Woodpecker Toy pieces and cut them out. Then I also cut about an inch piece of a straw and cut a rubber band in half. I folded the woodpecker feet around the straw and glued it in place. Then the girls placed the rubber band in the straw and slid the woodpecker to the top hand. Spread the rubber band with your hands and watch the woodpecker peck as it slides down the rubber band.

Nine Woodpeckers

  • The girls each had a similar number 9 paper for counting woodpeckers. My 3 year old had the number 9 with tracing arrows, along with a helpful poem, and 9 woodpecker holes to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added more tracing 9’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the W is for Walrus, Woodpecker & Weather Teachers Pay Teachers pack.
