The girls had fun learning about underground today. They loved digging outside and painting. We got our recourses for today from the U is for Umbrellabird, Underground & Umbrella Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Underground Science
- We read from the Abeka Preschool Language Development Cards to learn more underground.
- We learned more about underground by watching this What it’s like to live Underground video.
- She counted to 14 with her Abeka Numbers and Skills with Button Bear book.
- I printed out the Underground Animals cards for her to see more.
- We reviewed all of the sounds we have learned so far with the Abeka Alphabet Flashcards.
- Then we ate some Gummy Worms… YUM!

Underground Writing
- The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter U. My 3 year old had a capital U and lowercase u with tracing arrows, along with an underground critter to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing U’s and u’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the U is for Umbrellabird, Underground & Umbrella Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

U is for Underground
- I printed this U is for Underground Craft onto cardstock for the girls to paint. I cut out the capital “U” for them to paint brown. After that dried they glued it to a piece of brown construction paper. Then I cut out the underground animals for them to glue on.

Nine Underground Animals
- The girls each had a similar number 9 paper for counting underground animals. My 3 year old had the number 9 with tracing arrows, along with a helpful poem, and 9 underground animals to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added more tracing 9’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the U is for Umbrellabird, Underground & Umbrella Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Ant Ten Frame
- I printed out the Ant Ten Frame game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. Then she would tell me what the number is on the leader ant’s leaf. Then she counted out the correct number of ants to add to the ten frame.

Active Underground Play
- We found this Go Danny Digging in the Dirt for some active time today.

Playdough Worms
- I printed out and laminated the Worm Play Dough Mat. They rolled out pink Play Doh and rolled out worms to place the appropriate amount on each page.

More Underground Videos
- We watched the Layers of the Earth video from The Good and the Beautiful.
- Last we watched The Magic School Meets the Rot Squad.
Underground Books
- Under the Ground by Pascale De Bourgoing
- underGROUND by Fleming, Denise
- The Street Beneath My Feet by Charlotte Guillian
