July 1- Wed- Creative Ice Cream Flavor Day (Cookie Kraken Ice Cream)

We got Cookie Kraken Ice Cream from Walmart.

July 2- Thurs

July 3- Fri- National Chocolate Wafer Day

The girls tried Chocolate Wafers for the first time.

July 4- Sat- National Caesar Salad Day

We made a Caesar Salad with romaine, crotons, shredded parmesan, and Caesar dressing.

July 5- Sun- National Graham Cracker Day

We made Smore’s with Graham Crackers.

July 6- Mon- National Fried Chicken Day

We enjoyed a KFC fried chicken bucket with our dinner today.

July 7- Tues- World Chocolate Day

Hershey’s chocolate bar!!!

July 8- Wed- National Chocolate with Almonds Day

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Heat some water in a pot on the oven, placing a glass bowl on top of the pot.
  2. Turn off the heat once it starts to boil, and place the chocolate in the bowl.
  3. Gently stir for a few minutes until it is melted and smooth.
  4. Remove from the heat and add the nuts.
  5. Place some wax paper on a baking sheet.
  6. Place spoonfuls of nuts on the baking sheet and chill for half an hour.

July 9- Thurs- National Sugar Cookie Day

Cookie Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Butter
  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1//2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Cookie Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Spray cookie sheet with nonstick spray
  3. Cream together the butter and sugar.
  4. Add the egg and mix well.
  5. Stir in the flour, baking powder, salt and vanilla.
  6. Form dough into a large ball and place in a bowl to refrigerate for a hour.
  7. Roll the cookie dough onto a floured surface about 1/4 inch thick.
  8. Cut out the dough with cookie cutters and place them on the pan.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minute

Buttercream Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 4 cups powdered sugar (2 lbs)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon milk (if thick)
  • Yellow Food Dye
  • Sprinkles

Buttercream Directions:

  1. Cream together the butter and Crisco with a mixer.
  2. Slowly add in 1 cup of powdered sugar at a time.
  3. Add the vanilla and yellow dye, if it seems too thick you can add a bit of milk.

July 10- Fri- Pick Blueberries Day

July 11- Sat- National Blueberry Muffin Day

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teas vanilla
  • 1 teas lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teas salt
  • 2 teas baking powder
  • 2 cups frosh blueberries

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degree Ferenheit.
  2. Combine the ingredients one at a time, mixing well between each one.
  3. Fill cupcake liners about 1/2 full and sprinkle a bit more sugar on the tops.
  4. Bake for about 12 minutes.

July 12- Sun- National Pecan Pie Day

Ingredients:

  • 9 in. pie crust
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 TBS melted butter
  • 1 tea vanilla
  • 1 tea cinnamon
  • 1/2 tea salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degree Ferenheit.
  2. Place pie crust in a pie dish.
  3. Place the pecans on the pie crust.
  4. Stir the rest of the ingredients together and pour them over the pie crust.
  5. Bake for an hour and let set out for 2 hours before slicing.

July 13- Mon- National French Fries Day

I just cut the potatoes into 1/4 inch stripes and mixed them with olive oil and spices. Then I placed them on a baking sheet and baked for 400 degrees for half an hour.

July 14- Tues- National Macaroni and Cheese Day

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz Dry Macaroni Noodles
  • 2 TBS butter
  • 2 TBS flour
  • 1 Can Evaporated Milk
  • 1/2 Cut whole milk
  • 2 Cups sharp cheddar
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs

Directions:

  1. Boil noodles according to box, drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and whisk in flour.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk until sauce thickens.
  4. Stir in cheese and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Mix in the noodles.
  6. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  7. Coat 9×9 baking dish.
  8. Place the macaroni and cheese in the dish and top with bread crumbs.
  9. Bake for 25 minutes.
  10. Cool for 5 minutes before serving.

July 15- Wed- National Gummy Worm Day (Worms in Dirt)

We crunched up Graham crackers and placed them on top of the chocolate pudding, then we added gummy worms for out “worms in dirt”.

July 16- Thurs- National Corn Fritter Day

I used the Corn Fritter recipe from CrumbRecipes.com for today.

July 17- Fri- National Peach Ice Cream Day

Ingredients:

  • 16 oz bag frozen peaches
  • 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tea vanilla extract
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream

Directions:

  1. Place thawed peaches in the food processor and pulse till finely chopped.
  2. Stir in the peaches with the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla.
  3. Whisk the whipping cream until it forms peaks.
  4. Fold in the peaches and freeze over night.

July 18- Sat- National Sour Candy Day (Sour Stripes Bites)

We found some fun Sour Stripes Bites candies today.

July 20- Mon- International Cake Day (Banana Cake)

Cake Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 1 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cup flour
  • 3 ripe bananas

Frosting Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cup powder sugar

Cake Directions:

  1. Preheat oven 375 degrees Ferenheit.
  2. Grease and flour 10×13 cake pan.
  3. Mix cake ingredients one at a time and mix well.
  4. Mash the bananas and blend them into the batter.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes.

Frosting Directions:

  1. Mix ingredients well.
  2. Cool the cake completely before icing.
  3. Refrigerate to keep.

July 21- Tues- National Junk Food Day

Today we celebrated with my favorite, chips and dip!

July 22- Wed- National Penuche Fudge Day

I used the recipe from NoDashofGluten for the penuche fudge..

July 23- Thurs- National Vanilla Ice Cream Day

Just a bowl of vanilla ice cream.

July 24- Fri

July 25- Sat- National Hot Fudge Sundae Day

We served Smuckers Hot fudge on our ice cream today.

July 26- Sun- National Bagelfest Day

My favorite everything bagels today.

July 27- Mon- National Chicken Finger Day

We made frozen chicken fingers in our air fryer today.

July 28- Tues- National Hamburger Day

We broiled hamburgers today. My sister is a vegetarian, which is why we are teasing her by setting the burgers in front of her.

July 29- Wed- National Lasagna Day

Ingredients:

  • 9 lasagna noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 TBS minced garlic
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees Ferenheit and prepare baking dish.
  2. Cook the noodles according to directions and drain and set aside.
  3. Brown the beef, drain and add garlic.
  4. In a separate bowl mix the ricotta, egg and spices.
  5. Spread a thin layer of sauce, then 3 noodles, and ricotta mx, add half of the beef and some mozzerella cheese.
  6. Repeat the layers until you end with sauce and more cheese. Sprinkle the top with Parmesan.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then uncover and bake for 25 more minutes.
  8. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving.

July 30- Thurs- National Cheesecake Day

We got strawberry and blueberry cheesecake from our local grocery store today.

July 31- Fri- Jump for Jellybeans Day

A bag of jellybeans today.
