The girls had fun learning about quilts today. They liked patterning and cutting. We got our recourses for today from the Q is for Quail, Queen, and Quilt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Quilt Learning
- We read from the Abeka Preschool Language Development Cards to learn more quilts.
- We learned more about quilts by watching this Caitie’s Classroom Friendship Quilt video.
- We printed out the How to Make a Quilt poster to learn more.
- We reviewed all of the sounds we have learned so far with the Abeka Alphabet Flashcards.
- Then we watched the The Patchwork Quilt Story video.

Quilt Writing
- The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter Q. My 3 year old had a capital Q and lowercase q with tracing arrows, along with a quilt to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing Q’s and q’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Q is for Quail, Queen, and Quilt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

My Quilt
- I printed out the My Quilt outline and cut out square of construction paper and wrapping paper for the girls to make their own patterns.

Nine Quilts
- The girls each had a similar number 9 paper for counting quilts. My 3 year old had the number 9 with tracing arrows, along with a helpful poem, and 9 quilts to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added more tracing 9’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Q is for Quail, Queen, and Quilt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Quilt Color Matching
- I printed out the Quilt Color Matching game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. She reviewed each color as she matched up the colored spool with the matching colored quilt.

Quilt Worksheets
- We did the I Spy the Letter Q or q with a dot dauber.
- Then they did the Word Color Quilt Match page. We reviewed each color and how to spell them before they traced the letters and matched them to the quilts.
- Last she traced the shapes on the quilt.
