The girls had fun being police officers today. They enjoyed painting and investigating their fingerprints. We got our recourses for today from the P is for Penguin, Panda, Police Officer Teachers Pay Teachers pack.
Police Officer Learning
- We read from the Abeka Preschool Language Development Cards to learn more police officers.
- We learned more about police officers by watching this What does the Police Officer do in Emergency video.
- She also did her Police Officer page from her Abeka Letters & Sounds for 3’s book.
- We reviewed all of the sounds we have learned so far with the Abeka Alphabet Flashcards.
- Then we watched the Let’s Meet a Police Officer video.
- She loves her Police Car that lights up and makes noise.
Police Officer Writing
- The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter P. My 3 year old had a capital P and lowercase p with tracing arrows, along with an police officer to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing P’s and p’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the P is for Penguin, Panda, Police Officer Teachers Pay Teachers pack.
Police Officer Hat
- I printed out the Police Officer Hat onto cardstock and attached them to cardstock strips to make the hat.
Police Officer Badge
- I printed out the Police Officer Badge onto cardstock and the girls used their Crayola Watercolors to paint them.
Eight Police Officers
- The girls each had a similar number 8 paper for counting police officers. My 3 year old had the number 8 with tracing arrows, along with a helpful poem, and 8 police officers to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added more tracing 8’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the P is for Penguin, Panda, Police Officer Teachers Pay Teachers pack.
Police Officer Shapes
- I printed out the Police Officer Shapes game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. Then she reviewed her shapes as she matched up the police officer badges.
Investigating Fingerprints
- I printed these Investigating Fingerprints and got an ink pad for the girls to place their finger prints on the hands. Then they used their magnifying glass to look at their fingerprints.
Police Badge Number Match
- I printed out the Police Badge Number Matching game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. She reviewed each number as she matched up the number on the badge with the number on the police officer.

I read the My “p” Book by Jane Belk Moncure to the girls too. The police officer helps Little p in the book.
