E is for Elk (preschool)

The girls had fun learning about elks and other types of deer today. They had fun making elk hats. We got our recourses for today from the Letter E is for Elephant, Egg, Elk Preschool Pack Digital Download.

Elk Science

Elk Writing

The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter E. My 3 year old had a capital E and lowercase e with tracing arrows, along with an elk to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing E’s and e’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Letter E is for Elephant, Egg, Elk Preschool Pack Digital Download.

Elk Color Matching

I printed out the  Elk Color Matching game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. She reviewed each color as she matched up the colored flower with the elk with the matching colored flower in his mouth.

Playdough Trees

I printed out and laminated  the Forest Play Dough Mats. She rolled out green Play Doh  and used a triangle  cookie cutters to place the appropriate amount of trees in each forest. They also tried making tall 3D trees.

Elk Tracks

  • I printed out the Elk Tracks Pages for her to follow the elk tracks to the forest.

Elk Hat

  • First the girls cut out 2 large brown circles from construction paper. Then I traced their hands on yellow construction paper and cut them out. We glued 2 brown circle slightly above the other for the head, and then glued the yellow hands in the back for the antlers. Next I cut out 2 long brown strips and stapled them to the elk’s head to make a headband. They each drew a face on their elk’s head.
  • Or you can print out this Elk Headband. Color it and print it out to make a headband.
