The girls had fun learning about igloos today. The girls especially loved that it snowed last night. We got our recourses for today from the Letter I is for Inchworm, Igloo, & Insect Preschool Pack Digital Download.
Igloo Science
- Then we watched the Building my First Igloo video.
- She also did her Igloo page from her Abeka Letters & Sounds for 3’s book.
Igloo Writing
- The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter I. My 3 year old had a capital I and lowercase i with tracing arrows, along with an igloo to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing I’s and i’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Letter I is for Inchworm, Igloo, & Insect Preschool Pack Digital Download.
Snow Dough
- First we mixed 1 cup cornstarch and 1/2 cup dish soap, but the snow dough turned blue because our dish soap was blue.
- Next we mixed 1 cup flour with 1/2 cup vegetable oil, but this was just crumbly.
- I printed out and laminated the Counting Igloo Playdough mats for them to use with their snow dough.
Igloo Shapes
- I printed out the Igloo Shape game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. Then she reviewed her shapes as she matched up the igloo doors with the igloos.
Four Igloos
- The girls each had a similar number 4 paper for counting igloo. My 3 year old had the number 4 with tracing arrows, along with a helpful poem, and 4 igloos to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added more tracing 4’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Letter I is for Inchworm, Igloo, & Insect Preschool Pack Digital Download.
Ice Painting
- We placed a drop of food coloring into each ice cube hole, then added water and froze.
Igloo Color Matching
- I printed out the Igloo Color Matching game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. She reviewed each color as she matched up the colored child with the matching colored igloo.
I spy the letter I
- We did the I Spy the Letter I or i with a dot dauber.
Marshmallow Igloo
- I cut an opening in a paper bowl and then glued it upside down onto a paper plate.
- Then the girls glued mini marshmallows all over the bowl to make an igloo.
AlphaTales
We read the I book in our AlphaTales collection. The girls really enjoy these funny phonetic stories.

Snow Day
- Luckily we got the most snow that they have ever seen last night, about a foot and a half.
