The girls had fun exploring with eggs today. They got to paint, collect eggs, and dissect an egg. We got our recourses for today from the Letter E is for Elephant, Egg, Elk Preschool Pack Digital Download.

Egg Science
- We read from the Abeka Preschool Language Development Cards to learn more eggs.
- We learned more about eggs by watching this The Wild Kratts The Ostrich Eggs are Hatching video.
- She also did her Egg page from her Abeka Letters & Sounds for 3’s book.
- We reviewed the Holy Trinity Poster with the 3 parts of an egg as well.
- Then we went out back to the chicken coop to collect some eggs for dissecting.

Dissecting Eggs
- They each held an egg to feel the shell texture.
- Then they cracked them open onto a plate.
- They observed the egg white and yoke, and then had fun touching it.

Life Cycles
- I printed out the Frog Life Cycle, Chicken Life Cycle, and the Butterfly Life Cycle posters and laminated them. Then they used their Frog and Butterfly toys to help remember them.
- They loved watching the The Magic School Bus Cracks a Yoke video to learn about the life cycle of a chicken.
- Last I printed out the different Eggs Cards and laminated them for the girls to see different animals eggs.

Egg Writing
The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter E. My 3 year old had a capital E and lowercase e with tracing arrows, along with eggs to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing E’s and e’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Letter E is for Elephant, Egg, Elk Preschool Pack Digital Download.

e is for Egg Craft
I printed this e is for Egg Craft onto cardstock for the girls to paint. I cut out the lower case “e” for them to paint yellow (for the egg yoke). After that dried they glued it to a piece of blue construction paper. Then I cut out the egg shell for them to glue on.

I spy the letter E
- We did the I Spy the Letter E or e with a dot dauber.

Egg Names
The girls use the Egg Names paper to practice making their names.

Frying Egg Shapes
I printed out the Frying Pan Egg Shape game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. Then she reviewed her shapes as she matched up the egg yokes to the frying egg whites.

My “e” Book
I read the My “a” Book by Jane Belk Moncure to the girls too. An astronaut helps Little a in the book.

Egg Colors
- She likes making these Egg Colors Patterns.
- Then we watched Caitie’s Classroom Colored Egg Surprise.
