The girls had fun learning about roosters today. They enjoyed arts and crafts as well as painting. We got our recourses for today from the R is for Rooster, Rabbit, and Reptile Teachers Pay Teachers pack.
Rooster Science
- I read the letter R from the Abeka Animal Friends Flashcards to learn more about the bees. We watched Rusty Rooster Song to go with the card.
- She also did her Rooster page from her Abeka Letters & Sounds for 3’s book.
- She did her Rooster Craft from her Abeka Arts and Crafts with Button Bear book.
- We reviewed all of the sounds we have learned so far with the Abeka Alphabet Flashcards.
- Then we watched the Ten Facts About Roosters video.
- We also learned about the Chicken and Rooster Life Cycle with this poster.
Rooster Writing
- The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter R. My 3 year old had a capital R and lowercase r with tracing arrows, along with a rooster to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing R’s and r’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the R is for Rooster, Rabbit, and Reptile Teachers Pay Teachers pack.
r is for rooster Craft
- I printed this r is for rooster Craft onto cardstock for the girls to paint. I cut out the lower case “r” for them to paint brown. After that dried they glued it to a piece of green construction paper. Then I cut out the face and tail for them to glue on.
Seven Roosters
- The girls each had a similar number 7 paper for counting roosters. My 3 year old had the number 7 with tracing arrows, along with a helpful poem, and 7 roosters to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added more tracing 7’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the R is for Rooster, Rabbit, and Reptile Teachers Pay Teachers pack.
Rooster Worksheets
- Then she practiced her cutting with her Order Roosters by Size paper. She glued them on in the order by their size.
- I printed out the Rooster Number Order paper. Then she cut the number roosters apart and glue them in the proper order above.
Rooster Puzzle
- I printed out the Rooster Puzzle on cardstock and then laminated it so that we can use it over and over again. Then she got to put together the rooster.
