Q is for Quail (preschool)

The girls had fun learning about quail today. They enjoyed games and painting as always. We got our recourses for today from the Q is for Quail, Queen, and Quilt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Quail Science

Quail Writing

  • The girls each had a similar writing paper for the letter Q. My 3 year old had a capital Q and lowercase q with tracing arrows, along with a quail to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added a short poem and more tracing Q’s and q’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Q is for Quail, Queen, and Quilt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Q is for Quail

  • I printed this Q is for Quail Craft onto cardstock for the girls to paint. I cut out the capital “Q” for them to paint brown. After that dried they glued it to a piece of brown construction paper. Then I cut out the wings, head and feet for them to glue on.

Seven Quails

  • The girls each had a similar number 7 paper for counting quails. My 3 year old had the number 7 with tracing arrows, along with a helpful poem, and 7 quails to color. The 5 year old had the same paper, but added more tracing 7’s on the bottom. I found both of these in the Q is for Quail, Queen, and Quilt Teachers Pay Teachers pack.

Quail Ten Frame

  • I printed out the Quail Ten Frame game and then cut the pieces and laminated them. Then she would tell me what the number is on the Mommy quail’s nest. Then she counted out the correct number of chick or eggs to add to the ten frame.

Quail Worksheets

  • Then she practiced her cutting with her Order Quail by Size paper. She glued them on in the order by their size.
  • Next she sorted the Left and Right Chicks, by cutting them out and placing them in the proper column.
  • She also practiced her cutting with her Order Quail by Numbers paper. She glued the baby chicks in the order by their numbers behind their momma.

Quail Puzzle

  • I printed out the Quail Puzzle on cardstock and then laminated it so that we can use it over and over again. Then she got to put together the quail.

Quail Books

AlphaTales

We read the Q book in our AlphaTales collection. The girls really enjoy these funny phonetic stories.
