Today was fun because we got out the scrapbooks and looked at J’s baby pictures since Raphael did a lot of Madonna and Child paintings.

Discuss: Raffaello Sanzio, also known as Raphael, (1483- 1520) was a master artist very young. He was said to be as good ad Da Vinci and Michelangelo. He had many patrons and painted frescoes and tapestries for them. He was an Italian Renaissance artist.

Artist Journal: Print out a work of art for the artist and glue it in the book. Write the title of the work of art and the name of the artist. Write the years of the artist’s life and what type of art he did. One of Raphael’s most famous paintings isSt. George and the Dragon. Mother & Baby Painting

Discuss: Raphael painted a lot of pictures of a mother and baby.

Materials:

  • Canvas or card stock
  • Pencil
  • Paints
  • Paintbrush

Directions:

  1. Look at some of the pictures that Raphael painted of Madonna and baby. Madonna of Loreto, Madonna and Child Enthroned with Saints & Madonna del Granduca
